Jane Fonda, I am not

I've been trying to get in shape lately. It's very important that I'm in shape if/when I'm pregnant because of my joint condition. It's not easy. Getting myself to the gym is a challenge. My back is constantly a problem, but I realize exercising will make it better. It's a vicious cycle of I'm too tired/in pain to go to the gym, but I'm tired/in pain because I don't go to the gym.
When I finally get to the gym I have to deal with the crowds, people grunting, and machines covered in sweat.
But, I'm doing it. I'm going to the gym, doing crunches and stretches at home, and yesterday I walked five miles around the city.
One of the things that really helps motivate me is my awesome workout mix. I thought I'd share it with you.

Do you have any songs that put you in an ass-kicking mood?

Comments

Maybe that's the problem. I don't channel my ass-kicking music into my workouts.

There's a now-defunct group called Souls at Zero. K took me to see them years ago, just before they broke up. I was absolutely hooked. The album Taste for the Perverse is awesome. (see lyrics)

Red Hot Chili Peppers. Pretty much the whole Blood Sugar Sex Magik album, but particularly "If you have to ask".

On a recent road trip, my brother played these CDs called jockjams. They are made for workouts. The beat keeps you going, and they're fun to listen to. I think he bought them at Walmart.

These are only a few that I love:

Filthy/Gorgeous - Sissor Sisters
Looking Good, Feeling Gorgeous - RuPaul
1 Thing - Amerie
Hit em Up Style (Oops!) - Blu Cantrell 'So Blu'

Love to you Torrie, Dr. Torrie, Dexter and Mookie

Man, those songs have me ready to workout and well, I don't even want to normally get off the couch.

Scissor Sisters! Greenie, I love you. I could listen to Filthy/Gorgeous on loop all day.
Any funk is good when I work out. James Brown is a good choice, and you can't go wrong with Brick House.

Groove is in the Heart RULES.

Crap, I'll be back later with more, I'm sure.

OK, more:

* "Falling" by Gravity Kills
* Most anything by White Zombie
* "Money Ain't a Thing" by Jay-Z

The Killers, for sure! I had their CD playing while cleaning...kinda a workout, huh?
