Frustrated
Someone please explain to me why even though I'm working out ALL THE TIME and eating the healthiest I ever have, I am not losing weight.
I weigh 4 pounds more now than when I got pregnant the first time.
Now excuse me while I go bang my head against the wall repeatedly.

I have the same problem.
I was sedentary and very unhealthy for about 2 years and gained a bunch of weight. In november, I started doing portion control and calorie counting, eating healthier and going to the gym EVERY DAY, weights and cardio. Now it is april and I have lost.... drumroll please... 3 pounds. WTF. I have 20 lbs to lose before August and I thought that 9 months would be plenty of time to lose it.

P.S. - makes you want to eat a couple of doughnuts and a cake, doesn't it?

Muscle weighs more than fat. So if you are in decent shape now, you have decreased fat mass and increased muscle mass... and possibly gained weight. Boo! But you are probably healthier, even if you have gained.
I tend to judge my own "gains" by how my clothes fit. When I'm excersing and eating well, my clothes fit better/looser. When I chow down on doughnuts and watch TV, everything is tighter.

Maybe God loves perfect bodies and wants them to stay that way.

Drink more water. It is common to plateau after a while. You are going to have to kick it into high gear to see more results.

you and me both --- but in my case, I think my lack of weight loss could be blamed on too much late night mac n' cheese

It's sometimes better to measure yourself and go by inches lost than pounds. You're beautiful, Torrie - and trying to be healthier is a great goal. Don't focus on the weight.... :-)

I love the argument that muscle weighs more than fat. In fact I like it so much that I pretend that my muscles are actually lead and my fat is goosedown. Any weight gain is hailed as muscle, even if I have not moved in four days and have been drinking heavy cream through a beer bong. I suggest you adopt the same philosophy; it really does work wonders. Now that I (barely) run every week, that excuse is even more useful. Hello, I'm RUNNING. For at least two minutes a week. That means it's muscle! Because my muscles are lead and my fat is goosedown. The End.
