Fuck You Hallmark
Yesterday was a tough day.
I was hoping I would be pregnant on Mothers' Day.
I know it's just a Hallmark Holiday concocted to sell cards and gifts, but when you're not pregnant, and you want to be, it makes you feel useless and awkward.
It wasn't just a bad day because it was Mothers Day- I also threw my back out, so I took codeine and then had brunch with my in-laws, where my mother-in-law decided to lecture us on our finances, or lack thereof. As in, you don't have any money, and you're never going to be able to afford to buy a house/apartment. What a great conversation to have while you're stoned. I would have preferred to talk about chocolate, or cookies, or chocolate cookies.
I also decided yesterday would be a great day to go to Babies R Us and buy my cousin's baby shower gift. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy for my cousin, but standing in a baby super store on Mother's Day, childless, surrounded by all of the cute baby clothes and toys was not the best idea I've ever had.
I hope you had a better day than I did.

Yeah, not really. I was supposed to be pregnant on Mother's Day, too, but instead, I'm in week three (or possibly four--I'm starting to lose track) of my miscarriage, so yesterday totally sucked dirty goat ass.
Also, I worked, so the break room was full of people complaining about how unfair it is that mothers have to work on Mother's Day, and I had to restrain myself from saying "Well, I'm having a goddamned miscarriage. Is it better that *I* be here?"
THEN, of course, there were all the people who said "Oh, did you get your free (blablabla) today? For Mother's Day? Oh. You're not a mother? Oh." And then their eyes glaze over and they scamper off to the next, presumably more fecund, woman to have a chat.
So, yeah. Good times.

I think chocolate cookies with chocolate chips are really good. I have heard of the black and white cookie but I have never had one. Sugar cookies are completely worthless to me, as there is no chocolate.
Today my daughter's school is having a "Chocolate Party". All chocolate treats. Ah, to be 8 again.
P.S. hope you are feeling better Torie :)
