One of those days
I have mastitis.
It is causing me to have a 102 degree fever, chills, dizziness, exhaustion, and lots of pain .
This would normally be awesome, but it is especially awesome, because my oldest friend is getting married this weekend. And I'm a bridesmaid. And I'm making the wedding cake. And the wedding is three hours away.
To add to the fun:
-I made a big batch of buttercream icing only to discover that I had bought SALTED butter.
Anyone want some salty icing?
-I went to pick up my bridesmaid dress today. I have gone back twice to have it altered correctly. It still doesn't fit right.
I got in my elevator after walking the twelve blocks (round trip) in the heat, with my fever, only to realize that one of the detachable straps was missing. I desperately need the straps, otherwise everyone at the wedding is going to see some boobs for free. The lady at the tailor didn't secure the straps, AND didn't close the bottom of the bag that the dress was in.
I cried in the elevator.
Then, I had to retrace my steps to try and find the strap.
I found it.
That is about the only thing that has gone my way today.
Did I mention that I'm also taking care of a five-week old?
At least she's cute.

Breast Infections are no joke! Isn't it great to be a bridesmaid weeks after having a baby? I am one this weekend and am in your boat with the alterations problems.
Your little girl is too cute!

precious!
hugs to you - hope you feel better really soon

I make buttercream with salted and unsalted butter. um, you know, just in case that matters.
How can you stand how cute she is?

Hope you survive the day, sounds crazy!
She is just too cute.

:-D

Oh man. What a doozy. Hang in there - this will pass! (And I'd probably like that frosting!!)

I'm used to frosting being a little salty, because growing up my mom only ever bought salted butter.
Your daughter is so, so, so cute.

Oh no. I'll try to send some "good luck/better day" vibes your way.
Those bright blue eyes. Omig.

Oh, sweetie. I had a breast infection with my second baby, and I swear, that is the sickest I have ever been in my life. You have my sincerest sympathies on that one.
In other news, that little sweetheart of yours is absolutely beautiful. But then, you already knew that. :)

Cute!
None of our kids had discernible hair on their heads for the first few months either. And now I have no discernible hair on my head.
It's the freakin' Circle of Life at the Deal Family Compound. :-]

She isn't cute...she is beautiful!! Congratulations and hope that things get better of the coming days!!

She is just beautiful! Sorry to hear you're having a hard time... and being a bridesmaid 5 weeks after giving birth! Yikes! I've been stressing about being a bridesmaid in another 2 months. You're tougher than I am. :) Be well. Try to find some time to get some rest.

Hopefully things will turn around, and looking at that cute face makes it all better I'm sure. That's what I find with my little one now! I'm lucky my doc told me to formula feed, because I only breast fed for two days and was wondering how anyone could stick with it. Kudos to you! :)

I'm sorry you've got mastitis, there's nothing worse (apparently) my boobs wouldn't work in that department.
And your Willa is poke your eyes out cute.

Oh, I feel your pain. I got Mastitis a few weeks after I brought home Max. It really is horrible. I hope it passes fast for you.
Glad you found the strap, so free boobie show now. :)
And yes, your baby is so freaking cute. What a nice consolation that can be. When I have bad days I just look at my Max's face nothing else matters. :)

I'm so, so sorry you have mastitis. That is not fun at all.
I can't imagine trying to get the dress altered when your body is just barely getting over being an incubator FIVE WEEKS ago. One of my bridesmaids had a 3 month old, and the dress people and the alteration people were so rude to her. I hope your experience was better. And that you found the strap.
(And oh my WORD she is adorable!)

If the cake turned out even 1/4 as beautiful as your daughter, it must have been dazzling.
I hope you mend quickly.

That's really horrible about your mastitis. I very much hope it clears up quickly and that you feel better. Your little one is absolutely adorable though!

So sorry to hear about the mastitis. That sounds horrible. My mom told me that she had that long ago when she had her first baby, and it was just miserable. Luckily, they say that breastfeeding actually helps the mastitis go away, so tell Miss. Willa to eat away!!!
I hope you feel much better! HUGS to you!!! (And kisses to Willa! She is so darn cute!)

Oh her eyes are blue bright. COOL. Totally worth it.

Oh honey.... I've heard eating slightly salty buttercream with a big spoon helps speed mastitis recovery.
What? That wasn't in the baby books?
And, truly, gorgeous baby. Those eyes really make you understand what the macro feature on your camera was meant for, doesn't it?

your daughter is absolutely gorgeous...and as for the boob trouble, this may sound weird, but (cleaned, dry, then chilled very cold) green cabbage leaves placed inside your bra until they wilt in between feedings may help. don't put them on the nipples, just around the breast tissue. will help reduce inflammation and over-abundant milk supply. you could also pump just a little if there's too much milk to reduce pressure...just not so much that you release all the milk. i'm no doctor but i've been there and i know your pain.

Oh honey, this post SO brought back memories.
CABBAGE. Seriously. Stuff some in your bra. It will help with the pain--also hot showers. Hope you feel better. I have NO idea how you're making a wedding cake with 5-week-old-cuteness. Clearly you are superhuman. xo!
