The best we can hope for is to know that people will miss us when we are gone. Your father will be missed by so many. What lovely articles. Thank you for sharing them Torrie.
"He was so dedicated to his work that the white haired grandfather of five sported a handlebar mustache to identify with the pirates that he pursued."

Your father was part of history. That is AMAZING! Which, I'm sure, makes this all the much harder.
I'm sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I had no idea your father was such an accomplished man. What a wonderful story you'll be able to tell your sweet daughter when she's older.
Thinking of you and yours, dear. Love and hugs.

I am touched by the story of your father. My dad passed two years ago and it is still sad. You don't know me, I've never been here before...I just want to tell you that grief is a very personal process. It takes as long as it takes and I hope you are able to do things that care for you during this difficult time. Peace.

Wow, an obit in the NY Times; that's really something. He sounds like a facinating person who lived well. I'm so sorry you had to lose him. Best wishes to you and yours.

I am so, so sorry for all you're going through. I lost my dad 5 years ago and the pain I felt that day is still a part of me and always will be. I have a 5-month-old now and as much as I would have loved my father to know him I can't imagine trying to take care of him while trying to take care of everything involved in planning a funeral/memorial and grieving a loss of that magnitude. Your father sounds like a wonderful man and I am so sorry for your loss. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Not that we don't all love our dads just for being our dads but, man, your dad just seems so cool! No wonder you loved him so. A great loss not only for you but for the world.
Take care
