Things I have let my child play with so I could have five minutes of peace and quiet

My cell phone

My wallet

A water bottle

A flashlight

A remote control

A shampoo bottle

My keys (I actually got locked out of the house because of this)

A tape measure

A box of tampons

My Gorillapod

My husband's hospital ID

A USB cable

My organizer (she tore one of the pages of my calender out)

My necklace (she ate one of the beads)

A jar of sesame seeds

A magazine (she tore out the pages)

Rocks

A shoelace

My makeup kit

My teddy bear from when I was a little girl that I swore I would never let her play with

And you?

I am trying to think if there is anything I haven't let him play with. Not coming up with anything.

We let baby d play with my car keys once and lost them for a year...found them in the couch ...actually INSIDE the couch when we moved...that was tragic! But otherwise, pretty much the same stuff you let willa play with!

Baby monitor, cell phones, remote controls, our computers - basically she's a gadget geek like her parents.

Also: dog bowls, pots & pans, water bottles, toilet paper, brushes, plastic cups. Anything that is not dangerous but will distract her so we can have a moments peace.

I also let them unzip the couch pillows, take out the stuffing and put it back in. You might also try putting peanut butter on their noses to watch them lick it off. And of course, there's always Noggin.

My husband and I actually had to both buy new cell phones when our sons drool corroded his most favorite, best entertainment device....and then he had the nerve to not like the dead phones, they didn't light up and make noise!

A pair of artery forceps http://www.medisave.co.uk/images/7888_Mosquito-Straight.jpg
is one of the most useful tools of my trade, so I have a pair on a loop with my tiny maglite.

One day I was at the library and I gave Patrick them to play with. A disgusted stranger poked me on the shoulder and said "Excuse me, your baby has A PAIR OF SCISSORS IN HIS MOUTH!" I just shrugged and said "They're artery forceps. He's fine"

It took me a while to realise that to a total stranger, 'artery forcep' probably sounds about a million times worse than scissors!

Oh, and right now he is playing with rolls of thread, my sewing machine, my coffee cup (empty), a pincushion (with pins) and a pair of scissors. I found him this morning (whilst I was having a shower) 'washing' all the clean dishes in the dishwasher with... the toilet brush. (I will kill my husband when he gets home from work). Ack ack ack.

the three-year-old i babysit for will play with a metrocard for hours. also my cellphone, which she holds up to her ear and says "hi daddy, how you doin?" into.

refrigerator magnets

mardi gras beads

magazines

junk mail

leaves

A box of tampons will keep my daughter entertained for HOURS....okay, maybe not that long but a long time!

a toilet brush...never used but still, gross.

tampons, yes definitely.

my iPhone.

A water bottle is a big hit in our house. I have another bottle that I filled with random beads and buttons and bells and sealed it tight -- it makes so much noise, but it keeps him entertained while I'm in the shower.

Kleenex. Pulls them out one at a time: left hand right hand left hand...

His hairbrush, a spatula, and yes, our cell phones and remotes are favourites. Why is it that the only remote that he wants is the one that controls what we are currently using? And how does he know which buttons cause the most interruptions?

unopened bag of cheetos.
deck of cards.
keys work every time, but sometimes the panic button gets pressed.

Ha, my girls loved playing with tampons. Also, paint brushes (clean ones) and once my (empty) container of birth control. Whatever works.

Came here from Alpha mom by the way. The photos of your daughter in the post below are beautiful.
